    WCAB Saved; Governor Abandons Plan to Merge Boards

    The Sacramento Bee is reporting that Governor Schwarzenegger has abandoned the plan to merge 88 regulatory panels -- including the plan to merge the WCAB into one "super board" (see our earlier article by clicking here). Apparently the Governor's office delivered a letter to the Little Hoover Commission indicating the proposal needs additional consideration.

    Even the Little Hoover Commission had indicated the planned merger was too extreme. Many, and not just those groups affected by the regulatory agencies, considered the merger to be a power grab and were up in arms.
