    Doctor 's Study Claims Most Calif. AMA Ratings Are Inflated

    Most AMA Guides impairment ratings are incorrect and often readers of these reports are unaware of the significance of these errors.

    So says a study conducted by Brigham & Associates, a company run by Christopher Brigham, M.D., which promotes many AMA Guides-related tools, publications and seminars for workers' compensation practitioners around the country.

    According to the report, a review of California cases revealed the vast majority of the ratings were incorrectly elevated and often performed by physicians who were either unskilled or biased in performing impairment evaluations..
