Lawsuit Alleges Mislabeling of Home Depot Drivers
A class action lawsuit has been filed in California against a national trucking company, Cardinal Logistics Management of North Carolina, alleging that its drivers are being intentionally mislabeled as "independent contractors" to avoid employer-related expenses, such as unemployment and workers' compensation insurance.
The suit alleges that the truckers drive "Home Depot" -labeled trucks, wear "Home Depot" uniforms and deliver "Home Depot" goods and, for all intents and purposes, are actually Home Depot employees.
Other states are also investigating the company's practices.
