State Fund Sued for Using Too Many Outside Attorneys
Just when you thought State Compensation Insurance Fund had had enough stress (admittedly, much of it self-inflicted), along comes the professional organization known as CASE (California Attorneys, Administrative Law Judges and Hearing Officers in State Employment) to add a little more.
The group alleges that SCIF has violated Government Code Section 19130 by hiring outside counsel when there haven't been any cost savings (as required by the statute).
