U.S. Senate Passes Bill Telling Medicare to Explain Why WC Settlements Delayed
The U.S. Senate has passed legislation to force Medicare to release data and explain why it has stalled settlements to thousands of injured workers nationwide.
The bill was included in an amendment to the Health and Human Appropriations Act by Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.).
Herb B. Kuhn, acting deputy administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, disputed the need for the bill, writing that properly submitted cases are cleared in an average of 34 days.
