CAL/OSHA Posts Safety Tips for Adult Film Industry
California is notorious for more than just agriculture, factory jobs and the music industry. Like it or not, you can add porn among the state's bumper crops.
And the Department of Occupational Safety and Health is not pushing the business under the proverbial rug.
Citing "a recent cluster of HIV infections in the adult film industry in Southern California," the Department has posted detailed tips to draw attention to health hazards in these work places.
The announcement pulls no punches, advising the use of "condums, dental dams, gloves and eye protection."
It also suggests simulating sex acts through acting or "post production techniques" and lists many of the most common diseases and other afflictions -- besides HIV -- associated with the industry, including "human papilloma virus (warts), herpes virus, bacterial vaginosis, chlamydia (may cause pelvic inflammatory disease), gonorrhea and hepatitis A (oral contact with feces)."
Complaint forms (to be filed with DOSH) are also included in the posting.
