Study Looks at Managing WC Drug Costs (Representing 15% of Treatment)

An interesting study has been released listing factors which seem to help certain workers' compensation payors keep their drug costs down.

The report concludes that while the inflation rate for drugs is going down, actual costs for the medications are increasing. And since prescriptions account for nearly 15% of workers' compensation treatment costs, the survey emphasizes the need to properly train adjusters, look for drug abuse and over-prescribing and use appropriate utilization review procedures to keep costs down.
