      ----------------------------

Last week, former president of the California Applicants' Attorneys Association, Merle Rabine, ended his 6-year term as a Commissioner of the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board, the result of Governor Schwarzenegger's decision not to renew his term in office.

Commissioner Rabine was appointed in 2000 and was the Chairman of the WCAB until replaced in 2005 by Joseph Miller.

Immediately prior to his departure, he was the deciding vote in three significant en banc decisions (reported last week on WorkInjury.com).

The Governor has not yet named a replacement commissioner.
