Bill to Re-Do State Fund Set for First Senate Hearing Wednesday
A still-unnamed Assembly bill is set to be discussed by the Senate Banking, Finance and Insurance Committee this week which would radically alter how State Compensation Insurance Fund is run.
The legislation is the result of this past year's State Fund roller coaster ride involving multiple scandals, criminal investigations, alleged conflicts of interest, claims of huge sums of money being mismanaged and just general chaos at the beleaguered quasi-private agency.
While details haven't been divulged, it's thought that the bill will involve expansion of the governing board, tightening of fiscal controls and oversight of the many outside contracts involving the Fund.
