More Attys Fees Against SCIF Ordered in Palm Medical Case

We reported back in March that the First District Court of Appeal had reinstated the jury verdict against State Compensation Insurance Fund in the Palm Medical case.

In that ruling it was held that prior to 2005, State Fund so dominated the PPN market (preferred provider network, basically the predecessor to post-2005 MPN's), at least in the Fresno area, as to require it to comply with the common law principle of "fair procedure."

The end result was a judgment against SCIF which, with interest, has grown to about $1.4 million.

But wait... there's more!

The trial judge in San Francisco has now ordered SCIF to pay attorneys fees as well -- to the tune of an additional $425,000!
