State Investigating Kaiser's Call Centers for Incompetency

The Sacramento Bee reported in Sunday's edition that the state has launched a formal investigation into whether Kaiser is using unlicensed and unqualified staffers to make medical decisions when screening patients through its call centers.

The probe was begun after a nurse from Kaiser complained that scripts written for personnel answering the phones at the centers were resulting in medical-decision-making that only a physician should be doing.
