Former CHP Officer Collects WC Benefits
After Arrest on Molestation Charges

The Orange County Register has reported that a former California Highway Patrol officer (actually a lieutenant) - who was arrested in 2006 during one of those "Perverted-Justice" under-age sex sting operations we've all seen on TV - received more than $40,000 in workers' comp benefits following his arrest.

The benefits were for back, heart and skin cancer disabilities and the cases were resolved in 2007.

Stephen Robert Deck, 54, of Carlsbad is currently out on bail for the 2006 arrest. He retired after being arrested.

He also had a previous molestation charge from 2003 dismissed involving a 10-year old girl.

Prior to his most recent arrest, Deck was assigned to the CHP's San Juan Capistrano office.
