Illinois Workers’ Compensation Benefits

If you or your loved one is injured while working in Illinois, you are entitled to several workers’ compensation benefits under the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Act. Every employee in Illinois has rights to receive workers’ compensation from their employers. Workers’ Compensation coverage begins on your first day of work, and most full-time and part-time employees are eligible for Workers’ Compensation.

According to Illinois workers’ compensation law, there are many benefits you can receive such as:

Covering Medical Expenses – You may be entitled to covering medical expenses such as the cost for hospital stays, doctor visits, medical treatment and more. Some programs permit the injured worker to select physicians of their choice to get treatment.

Cash Benefits – Cash benefits are available if you are totally or partially disabled and unable to work for more than seven days. The seven days do not have to be consecutive days of absence.

Disability Pay – Employees with temporary disability may get paid with a sum amount determined by a percentage of workers’ wages. Compensation will be provided for the duration of the disability.

Death Compensation – Death compensation will also be provided for the dependents of the workers who have died from a work related injury. The amount of compensation will be provided on a percentage basis of employee wages.

Vocational Rehabilitation – If you are unable to perform the usual duties of your occupation after a work related injury, you may need training entitled under compensation benefits.
